about

Sun Machines make a splashy return to the pop scene with Supersonic Sons, the follow up to their 2014 EggHunt Records debut, Human Subjects. Multi-instrumentalists J. Forté and Gregory Gendron explore richer textures and deeper soundscapes on this epic synthpop space opera, which continues the interstellar tale first introduced on Human Subjects. As told through the lens of an unnamed protagonist, Supersonic Sons’ ten eclectic songs weave a story of one man’s psychological and technological challenges as he embarks upon a dangerous trip back home. Sounds of the 80s, 90s, 00s, and beyond infiltrate Supersonic Sons, which features a dose of guitar flash, a mixture of innovative live and programmed drums, a bevy of synthesizers, and ample vocal harmonies. Supersonic Sons was produced using a variety of recording mediums (cassette tape, iPad, computer hard drive) in a variety of locations (from Washington, DC, to Tokyo, Japan).

about

Sun Machines Washington, D.C.

Sun Machines is the culmination of years of collaboration by DC-region underground vets J. Forté (Ape House) & Gregory Gendron (Lejeune), & continues their work together in the Secret Pop Band and Light Arms. Starting out on 4-track tape, & eventually incorporating iPad & hard drive recordings, the debut is a loosely thematic tale of space travel, technology, loneliness, & human perception. ... more
